The Purpose of this Blog: This blog contributes to the human aspiration for better rhetoric in higher education and society, which assists in creating and building better communities. Join me in the search.

What is Rhetoric? Check out my page by this title.

My aim is to search for and to practice “good rhetoric” in the domains of higher education and society.

  • good rhetoric has ethical aims of clarity and mutual understanding, encouragement toward good actions, and criticism of what is faulty.
  • good rhetoric usually makes use of ethical strategies of argumentation, evidence, and implication.  It does not deceive in order to achieve a good result.

However, these are ideals and aspirations. I make no claims to universal knowledge of rhetoric, nor ethical perfection. I do not demand perfection of others, either.

Let’s aspire and critique together, seeking wisdom through our rhetorical, educational dialogue.
